Seneca Companies, a Des Moines, IA based company with roughly 300 employees and branches located throughout the Midwest, has an opening for an Environmental Compliance Specialist for petroleum/environmental activities at our headquarters in Des Moines. This position provides consulting support services for industrial, manufacturing, and municipal clients on all aspects of environmental regulatory compliance. Typical projects focus on air permitting including but not limited to construction permits and Title V Permits, writing stormwater pollution prevention plans (SWPPP), SPCC Plans and conducting due diligence. This position works directly with clients, along with other support staff.
Responsibilities
- Air Permitting, SPCC, SWPPP, and Phase I/II Assessments
- Project Management and Client Support functions require the candidate to be very detail-oriented, have excellent organizational skills, be deadline driven and have thorough follow-up traits.
- Site inspection, data collection and evaluation, report generation, proposal development, and budget management.
- Critical to the position is the ability to work in dedicated and cross-functional teams. A strong desire and ability to learn quickly along with excellent writing and verbal communication skills are necessary
- Must have proven experience with writing reports and other project documentation for internal and customer files
Requirements
- BS degree in Environmental or Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science or a closely related field with knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations.
- Candidates should have directly related work experience, with “hands on" consulting experience preferred.
- Applicants should have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, along with strong proficiency using Word and Excel and other MS Office applications for data analysis, presentations and reporting.
- Preferred candidates must also demonstrate a proven track record of being able to work both independently on small specific assignments, and as part of a large team on multidisciplinary projects.
- Working within the manufacturing and industrial sectors in regards to air permitting, SPCC, SWPPP, and Phase I/II assessments
